51marks 65th year as a service and people-centered unit through recognition of students and staff
29 July 2025 | Angel Junice P. Lumba |
The 51 (OVCSA) celebrated its 65th founding anniversary with the theme “TANAW: Tagumpay ng Ating Nagkakaisang Adhikain at Serbisyong Wagas” on June 30, 2025, at the Makiling Ballroom Hall, Student Union Building.
The event featured the 2025 51Student Awards through the awarding of the UPLB Natatanging Organisasyon (UNO) and UPLB Natatanging Iskolar ng Bayan (UNIK); 2025 51Personnel Awards, including the service awards and the outstanding personnel, team, and program or project awards (OPTPA); and the recognition of outgoing 51directors, heads, and project development associates.
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Janette H. Malata-Silva delivered the opening remarks for the activity, emphasizing the importance of this year’s theme as a reminder of growth and continued success through OVCSA’s collective efforts.
Malata-Silva also highlighted the need for people-centered, constructive, and selfless service and challenged the 51constituents, “Sa atin pong paglalakbay pasulong, nawa’y manatili tayong gabay ng pagtanaw.
Along this vein, Florentino M. Pasco of OVCSA’s Office of Student Housing (OSH), recipient of the Retiree Personnel Service Award, said in a message that he delivered on behalf of all award recipients that those who have a chance to work at 51must love their jobs.
