The Learning Resource Center (LRC) and the College of Economics and Management (CEM) have once again partnered to equip the collegeās freshies with the knowledge and skills needed for MATH 25 (Fundamental Calculus), a core requirement in all four degree programs CEM offers.
Eighty-seven freshies taking up one of the following: BS Economics, BS in Agricultural and Applied Economics, BS Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship, and BS Accounting, have completed the sixth CEM Math Bridge Program (CEM BP) implemented by the college and LRC from July 8 to August 4, 2025.
Launched in 2020, the annual program aims to equip CEM students with the skills needed for MATH 25 (Fundamental Calculus), particularly those without pre-calculus subjects in senior high school.
This yearās ābridgersā were divided into three sections under CEM BP faculty-tutorsāGimelle B. Gamilla-Amorosa, Jaysie Mher G. Tiongson, and Francis Adrian C. Viscoāall from the Institute of Mathematical Sciences of the College of Arts and Sciences.
CEM and LRC recognized the ābridgersā on August 5, 2025, at the Rural Economic Development and Renewable Energy Center (REDREC) Auditorium.
In her opening remarks, CEM Dean Ma. Angeles O. Catelo emphasized the return on investment the bridgers will gain from completing this academic milestone. She also assured them of the administrationās support throughout their stay in CEM.
All ābridgersā received certificates of completion, and each section presented a talent showcase to reflect on their month-long learning experience.
Vincent E. Clave of BS Accountancy, the top-performing student from Section F, was awarded the āBest in Mathā award for attaining the highest rating in this yearās batch of CEM ābridgers.ā
Faculty-tutors and facilitators were also given certificates of appreciation for their contributions to the program.
In her closing remarks, LRC Director Mariyel Hiyas C. Liwanag thanked the students for making LRC part of their academic journey. She welcomed them as UPLB students and wished them success in their studies. She also thanked CEM for the continued partnership and for their proactiveness in looking after their studentsā academic welfare.
